This is to announce a new product I have been working
on for the last six months. This product will let anyone, even a
beginner, produce high quality printed documents with windows.
Some of its features include, the selection of any font
installed in your printer, a preview function to see exactly what the
document will look like before printing, selection of margin, number
of copies, line spacing, complete support for the windows clipboard,
which will allow you to paste text from any windows or dos program,
including a function to collect text from any number of application
and store all of it in a buffer until ready to print. The ability to
print files up to a megabyte long. A configuration file which will
remember all the details until the next time you need to start
printing.
Let me describe an example of its use. Click on its icon and
select "Capture" from the edit menu. Next use the multi-task
capability to open any number of windows each containing it own
document file with your word processor. Now, when ever you use the
"Cut" or "Copy" command from any one of the windows, Textprint will
capture the marked text and store it in its own buffer. When you are
ready to print, click on Textprint's window, select print from the
edit menu, a window will appear displaying the first page for you to
view, select "Ok" and all of the text captured from any of the
applications will be printed.
I have tried to make using it as easy as possible. To start
or stop printing all you have to do is double click in it's window.
The preview which is shown before it starts printing lets you see
margin, line width, spacing, and font. The menu will respond to a
mouse or fast shift key combinations. You never have to set margin,
font, number of copies, or line spacing, unless you want to change
them. If you start Textprint by dragging a file and dropping it on
it's icon, double click the window and a box will appear with the
filename in it, select "Ok" and it will start printing.
This is a list of the commands.
"Open" will display a box to enter a filename. The file can
be up to one meg long. I chose to read a complete file rather than a
section at a time, this eliminates any "disk thrashing" when using
the Print Manager.
"Setup" will display the setup box for the default printer.
"Exit" will terminate the program.
"Paste" will print any text currently in the clipboard.
"Capture" will record any text sent by another application
to the clipboard. The text is stored in a memory buffer until you want
to print it. You can "Cut" or "Copy" from any application as many
times as you want. Windows will send a message to Textprnt whenever
text has been sent to the clipboard, Textprnt will respond to this
message by copying the text into it's own memory buffer.
Hint - windows sends the same message when "Capture" is
selected, and when a application that has put text in the clipboard is
terminated. Do not exit any application while "Capture" is activated
or text in the clipboard might be copied more than once.
"Release" will stop recording text from the clipboard.
"Print" will print any text captured.
"Layout" will display a box to let you select margin, copies,
and line spacing. Unless you have to feed paper by hand, make sure
Auto-Feed is selected.
"Font" will display a series of boxes to set the font you want
to print with.
Textprnt will always display a preview of the first page
before printing. Hint - you might want to maximize the window, because
the page will be squeezed to fit it. The preview window has a grid of
one inch lines, which will not be printed, to let you see how the page
will look. How precise the preview window is depends on what kind of
fonts you have installed.
I will depend on you to be honest. If you decide to continue
and use my software please send $15.00 to
